Giving Back through Fundraising
One of KTDRA’s loyal fundraising Champions Eleni is hosting a high tea on Saturday 22 June at the Woodville Town Hall!
Passionate advocate for kidney and diabetes research, Eleni is hosting her second fundraiser to support KTDRA, with all ticket sales going straight towards research into these diseases.
Fundraising is very close to Eleni’s heart; she she’s been personally affected by kidney disease herself. Eleni has undergone dialysis twice, the second time every day for four hours for five and a half years before as well as two kidney transplants.
Not only has this affected her, but her late grandfather suffered type 1 diabetes and she also lost a dear friend Debbie who succumbed to kidney failure in her early 20’s in the 1990s.
“Unfortunately, towards the end of his life my grandfather went blind as a side effect from diabetes and passed away at the age of 80; and for Debbie, it was a sad case of her being born at the wrong time for what she had. Renal failure and diabetes was relatively new back then,” Eleni said.
“If she faced the issue today she would still be here.”
Last year, Eleni raised an incredible $1,500 towards kidney disease, and this year’s event promises to be even bigger than the last!
“I’m really looking forward to this year’s high tea at the Woodville Town Hall. We’ve got great raffle prizes, beautiful silent auction prizes and much more on the day,” Eleni said.
Eleni has also enlisted the help from two of Adelaide’s renowned chefs who have carefully thought out the menu for the event.
She also has 2019 Masterchef contestant Mandy Hall as her MC.
“Grab some friends and come along to enjoy an afternoon of food, entertainment and raising money for a good cause.”
